Session 2, February 14, 2008
Velocity received a phone call from the police department asking to meet with her to discover what the team's stance might be and their role for the city. It was a delicate meeting, but Velocity handled things well. As much of the team as could attend also met with the police and said their piece. Ultimately, Velocity and the team, now named The Watch, was able to assure the police chief of their well-meaning intent to work inside the law.
This soon developed into something new. The justice department had an unusual situation on their hands. Death Grip -- also known as Nathan Williams -- was judged to not be a hardened criminal and his judge was very hesitant to send him to prison where he may well become a hardened, super-powered criminal in time. So, upon hearing the positive intent of the Watch, he proposed community service for Nathan.
The team, after a short debate, accepted the justice department's proposal to involve them in Nathan's parole. Aside from beginning a new life on his own, he would be required to aid the Watch in their crime-fighting activities. Nathan met with the team during this situation as part of the Watch's requirements before they would accept the proposal, but things went very well. He even created a new heroic persona called, Phantom Fist.
When the heroes got the call from the police of an emergency down at the Air Force base, the Watch swung quickly into action and got down there right away. They discovered that a military prisoner had escaped and the local police didn't want the military to take action within city limits.
The Watch managed to catch up with the super-powered criminal called Forge and transported him to the crater Cosmus made when he crashed to earth a short while ago. There, the situation got out of hand as Forge's lip manage to enrage the silvery ex-Soviet patriot.
Thereafter a battle raged that seemed only to make Forge more powerful. Finally, Black Mask asked Cosmus to take Forge to thin atmosphere to knock the villain out. Unfortunately, Forge must have again enraged Cosmus because soon after there were brilliant explosions in the high atmosphere and Forge fell to earth, pursued by cosmus.
Forge hit a freeway overpass and caused a great deal of damage. The Watch re-assembled there and engaged Forge again, but Cosmus, blind to the harm he was doing to his own teammates and innocent civilians in the area, continued to pound Forge. Only Velocity escaped punishment, as she was thrown clear of Cosmus' powerful, explosive blasts.
Even Forge was aghast at the destructive nature Cosmus now exhibited and the innocent civilians he hurt -- and killed. The threw a fuel truck at Cosmus, blowing him out of the sky and knocking him out.
Forge then left, leaving Velocity in a panic to grab medics to help her fallen and bleeding teammates. Ultimately, after the panic began to wear off, she realized that the best possible medical attention for them was back at Citadel Base and, after the medics had stabilized those they could, she hauled everyone back to Citadel's med bay and had AABLE run the device that would regenerate their injuries.
